Fields of Mistriaβa 90s-anime aesthetic farming sim for Steamβtook the cozy gaming world by storm when it launched in August 2024. Sitting at an Overwhelmingly Positive Steam score, the game was a big hit for Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, and Stardew Valley fans as well as the gaming community at large.
Fields of Mistria launched in Early Access, with approximately 30-40 hours of story-based gameplay to enjoy and dozens of hours of grinding, customizing, and collecting besides that. Developer NPC Studio announced on Xwitter that the first major update is on it’s way shortly!
I tried out the game (and loved it), and I count myself as one of the many who are anticipating every update as we work our way towards a 1.0 release.
Fields of Mistria Release: Update #1
According to the roadmap, Fields of Mistria was due for a major update sometime in Q4 2024. And now we have a release date: November 18th 2024.
Fields of Mistria Update 2024: What’s Included?
As of Nov. 18th 2024, Fields of Mistria will be updated to include:
- NPC heart progression cap raised from 4 to 6 hearts.
- 6 Heart events for dateable NPCs.
- Additional NPC dialogue.
- New enemies added.
- New cosmetic drops from monsters.
- Renown level cap raised by 20 levels.
- Additional renown rewards.
- Additional board requests.
- Additional museum content and rewards.
- A new festival.
- Skill caps raised from lvl 30 to lvl 45.
- Additional skill perks.
- Additional home upgrades.
- Additional player and animal cosmetics.
- Additional furniture and decor.
I’ve highlighted some of the updates I’m looking forward to most. Mainly, anything to do with befriending (and/or dating) the lovely assortment of NPCs. *cough cough* Reina. *cough cough* Balor. *cough cough*
Obviously, the end goal is to be able to fully level all NPC friendships, finish the main story, explore all of the mines (and tackle the mysteries within), and level up your skills and the town rank fully. These are the standards we would come to expect from any fully formed game of this nature.
But Fields of Mistria has a ton of creative bonus content coming, too. They’ve really doubled-down on customization and cosmetics, meaning that players will see additional home & farmland upgrades; player & animal cosmetics; and furniture & decor by the time 1.0 is fully released to the public.
Fields of Mistria Release Date
Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact timeline for Fields of Mistria 1.0 yet. But follow me here on Cozy Game Reviews and I’ll keep you updated as I learn more in real time. This is certainly a game I have my eye on, and am anxiously anticipating the full release.
But don’t worry, you won’t see me posting a bunch of “Fields of Mistria Release Date” articles that contain one paragraph that just says: We don’t know yet. (Unless… π jkjk)
Next up…
I can’t wait to jump back into Mistria for this and many more updates to come. If you are looking for cozy games in Early Access, Ova Magica was another one I really enjoyed this year. In the meantime, might I recommend a few of my favorite cozy farming sims to tide you over: Wylde Flowers is fully voice-acted and boasts a wonderfully diverse and inclusive cast of characters, and, of course, there’s Stardew Valley 1.6 (coming soon to condoles).
Stay cozy, gamers!
