18 New Cozy Games out in May 2025!

Is it just me, or did May zip by? The weather was rainy and cool where I am, which made for a perfect month to cozy up indoors and play some games before summer festivities start up. There are a ton of brand new cozy game releases this month, too. Here are some that caught my eye:

1. Herald: The Interactive Period Drama – Released 1 May, 2025

Genre: Interactive fiction, point-and-click
Rating upon release: Positive

Herald is a gripping, story-driven period drama that sails into the heart of colonial power and personal identity. Set aboard the HLV Herald in an alternate 19th century, you play as Devan Rensburg, a mixed-heritage steward navigating class divides, crew tensions, and the ship’s buried secrets.

With branching narratives, richly voiced characters, and a sharp critique of empire, Herald delivers a thoughtful, tightly woven adventure that asks not just what you’ll do—but who you’ll become.

2. To Pixelia – Released 1 May, 2025

Genre: Relaxing open world
Rating upon release: Mostly positive

To Pixelia is a sprawling pixel-art life sim where ambition meets total freedom. Whether you’re chasing fame as a musician, fighting your way through underground boxing rings, or campaigning for the presidency, the sandbox of Pixelia is yours to shape.

Career paths range from wholesome to chaotic and there’s an open world full of quirky characters. To Pixelia invites players to live out wildly different dreams—all in one vibrant, simulation-packed package.

3. despelote – Released 1 May, 2025

Genre: Sandbox
Rating upon release: Very positive

I first spotted despelote at PAX West 2023, and now it’s finally out for all to play!

despelote is a tender, first-person slice-of-life adventure that captures the wonder of childhood and the cultural heartbeat of soccer in 2001 Quito, Ecuador. Through the eyes of young Julián, players explore the city’s streets and parks with a soccer ball at their feet, uncovering everyday joys, local stories, and a nation’s quiet hope for World Cup glory. despelote is a rare, poetic tribute to memory, place, and play.

4. Little Sim World – Released 1 May, 2025

Genre: Life sim, dating sim
Rating upon release: Very positive

Little Sim World is a vibrant 2D cozy life sim that blends cozy charm with deep customization and RPG progression. Set in a bustling, hand-crafted city inspired by London, it invites players to design their dream home, forge relationships with quirky locals, pursue careers and university degrees, and manage their character’s daily needs.

Little Sim World delivers a fresh, community-driven take on the life sim genre—offering both comfort and complexity for fans of games like The Sims and Stardew Valley.

5. Chill Town – Released 13 May, 2025

Genre: Farming sim
Rating upon release: Mostly positive

Chill Town is a soothing simulation-meets-idle game hybrid that expands on the cozy vibes of Chill Corner with new layers of interactivity and charm. From building and decorating your dream town to fishing, farming, cooking, and caring for adorable creatures, it’s a laid-back digital retreat designed for players who crave relaxation with a creative twist.

A rich lo-fi soundtrack and auto-play features make it just as enjoyable as background ambience as it is an interactive escape, inviting you to unwind at your own pace.

6. Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo – Released 16 May, 2025

Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo is a heartfelt narrative adventure set in a vibrant, liminal afterlife. You play as Kulebra, an undead snake with a smile and no memory, exploring a whimsical world full of lost souls, quirky characters, and hidden truths.

A blend of point-and-click exploration, light puzzles, and a strong emotional core, emphasizes themes of acceptance and purpose into a cozy yet thought-provoking journey through death that feels anything but grim.

8. Hotel Architect – Released 20 May, 2025

9. Jumping Jazz Cats – Released 20 May, 2025

Genre: Party game, 3D platformer
Rating upon release: Positive

Jumping Jazz Cats is a cozy online multiplayer platformer where players control agile cats racing and performing acrobatic parkour inside a jazzy cartoon mansion — the Ellington Estate. Players jump, grind, swing, bounce, and slide through whimsical, multi-level environments filled with playful distractions and furniture obstacles.

The game mixes cooperative and competitive mini-games inspired by feline antics, with up to 9 players online or up to 4 local players in split-screen.

10. Tales of Seikyu – Released 21 May, 2025

Rating upon release: Very positive

Tales of Seikyu is a charming blend of farming sim, RPG, and romantic adventure set on a mystical island inhabited by shape-shifting Yokai. As a member of the Fox Clan, you’ll cultivate your homestead, master magical transformations, and forge meaningful relationships with a diverse cast of villagers through heartfelt storylines and seasonal events. You can expect a cozy atmosphere, engaging progression, and vibrant world inspired by Eastern folklore.

Tales of Seikyu offers a fresh, enchanting twist on life sims—perfect for players craving a blend of exploration, community, and magic.

11. FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time – Released 21 May, 2025

Rating upon release: Very positive

Easily my favorite cozy game of 2025 so far, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time invites you to live your best slow-life fantasy in a beautifully crafted open world where you can freely switch between 14 unique jobs—or “Lives”—ranging from fishing and crafting to battling monsters. Guided by a mysterious dragon, you’ll explore a sprawling island frozen between past and present, shaping its landscape, rebuilding towns, and uncovering secrets.

This cozy RPG offers seamless multiplayer for up to four players and a rich variety of activities, this RPG blends relaxing life simulation with action-packed adventure, offering endless ways to play at your own pace.

12. SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure – Released 22 May, 2025

Genre: Co-op cooking
Rating upon release: Mixed

SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure serves up a vibrant, co-op blend of cooking chaos and action-packed exploration set in a fantastical Southeast Asian-inspired world. Play solo or team up as Som the Cooker and Gon the Hunter, balancing frantic kitchen mini-games with monster-slaying and ingredient foraging on the mysterious Khaya Island.
