Hello Kitty Island Adventure is heading to its first-ever DLC expansion this fall, and it’s bringing along one of Sanrio’s most underrated characters. Wheatflour Wonderland, arriving September 18, 2025, will open a magical new chapter for Friendship Island’s residents.
The adventure kicks off when a potion mishap in Hello Kitty’s café opens a portal to Wheatflour Wonderland: a land of golden grain fields and dreamy stained-glass castles. At the heart of this enchanted world is Cogimyun, the wheatflour fairy: a shy, whimsical Sanrio deep cut who’s finally getting her moment in the spotlight. She’s arriving with her own friendship progression, special quests, and a cast of companions, including her shrimp tempura pet Ebi Fry and her adorable little brother, Cogimyon.
What immediately caught my attention in the trailer? The magical girl transformations. Kuromi, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, and Hello Kitty swap their usual cozy attire for frilly, pastel battle gear straight out of Sailor Moon. Fingers crossed our avatars get the same treatment, because no Sanrio expansion is complete without an outfit that’s 80% ruffles.
But Wheatflour Wonderland isn’t just about fashion. This is the game’s largest new world since launch, and it’s packed with collectibles and puzzles. New magic wands will let you cast spells, transform into critters (or even inanimate objects), and unlock new puzzle routes.
There are over 100 hidden “Wheathearts” to find, which can be exchanged for themed furniture and whimsical cabins. The expansion also introduces new cooking and crafting systems; yes, including noodle grass, which means you can whip up instant ramen or spaghetti with meatballs right alongside your usual cakes and parfaits.
If you’re the completionist type, Cogimyun’s 35 friendship levels will keep you busy, each milestone unlocking rewards and deepening her storyline. For the mini-game fans, there are three new ones, including one you can play with friends. And in a delightful twist, one segment seems to have you playing as… a chicken? Not your usual Island Adventure animal avatar, a full-on chicken. I have no idea how this fits into the plot, but I’m already emotionally invested.
The promise of Wheatflour Wonderland feels like exactly the kind of expansion Hello Kitty Island Adventure excels at: equal parts cozy escapism and playful experimentation. We get a charming new friend and a magical backdrop that feels straight out of a storybook.
And if this is the first step toward adding more lesser-known Sanrio characters to the game, the possibilities are delicious.
